The Boatnicks (1970)

The Boatnicks (1970)

I can emphasize with the main character in ‘The Boatnicks’. Thomas Garland always seems to find a way to frustrate his boss. That has happen to me many times over the years. He always manages to make the wrong decisions that lead him to the brink of getting fired. But of course he comes through in the end and manages to stay employed as a Coast Guard Captain.

This movie has several slapstick style gags. But for some reason, they don’t seem to ever be slapsticky enough to really warrant a place in the Disney hall of fame as a Classic. Although the characters in the film, especially the gang of jewel thieves led by Phil Silvers, are what makes the film worth watching. Still, this Disney film geared towards families is a lot better then a lot of the stuff that is put out nowadays. It’s a fun film and is worth a cruise around the harbor.
