Herbie Goes Bananas.
When this film first came out I saw it several times in the theater. It was exhilarating and enthralling to a 9 year old. After all the hero was around my age. It is still sort of fun now, but not as it was to me as a child.
But it still is a fun film and has fun stuff like Herbie covered in bananas and him in a bull fight and taking on a plane full of bad guys. This film marks the end of an era of Disney slapstick silly innocent style type of films. It also fits into the newer looking Disney films of the 80’s. HGB is a transition film in the Disney library of films. It also marks the last big screen appearance of Herbie till 2005. Although he did ride into the small screen on TV. But alas those films never made it to DVD. But this one did and if you liked the other Herbies, there is no reason not to take a ride on this Banana boat.
