Rascal (1969)

Rascal (1969)

Animals were featured rather heavily during the 60's and 70's Disney films. Bill Mumy (Lost in Space's Will Robinson) plays young Sterling North who takes care of a Raccoon (Ranger Rick) before it comes of age. Racoon's are interesting, mysterious, and dangerous, mostly becasue they have a built on mask.

It is a standard Disney non-controversial picture about a boy and his raccoon based on the Sterling North memoir  'Rascal: A Memoir of a Better Era'.

There is a great slapstick moment inside a grocery store where shelves fall down and a woman screams. You just can't get enought of well timed orchastrated destruction.  It’s also fun to look back to the early century and see what life was like then as the time period is 1917.

A pretty decent and fun family film from Disney.
