Hot Lead and Cold Feet (1978)
Harry Potter reader Jim Dale plays a goofy but kindhearted Salvation Army missionary named Eli who is in charge of two children, Marcus and Roxanne, who inherits a fortune from his late dad Jasper Bloodshy, also played by Jim Dale. He has to compete in a series of silly races in the town of Bloodshy, against his tough outlaw of a brother Wild Billy ( also played by Jim Dale) to get the fortune. He even manages to fall in love with a school teacher named Jenny (Karen Valentine.)
Alongside the three Jims is Don Knotts as Sheriff Denver. Throughout the picture he keeps on trying to have a shootout with his arch nemesis Rattlesnake (Jack Elam), but something always wacky keeps it from happening, such as Don Knots singing in the mud as he walks down the street to face off against Rattlesnake in a dual. This film resembles the A Team in that lots of bullets are fired but no one even gets nicked.
This is Disney Comedy at it’s very best, thanks to the funny gags executed by clever actors who know how to deliver the goods. Show this to your kids and prove that to get laughs you need not resort to poop jokes or to someone getting kicked in the nuts. A comedy with clear class and not nasty crass.
