The Light in the Forest

Fess ‘Davy Crockett’ Parker returns in another Disney Frontier adventure.  This time Fess is Del Hardy  a young soldier assigned to reestablish True Son (James MacArthur  into colonial society after being kidnapped as a boy and raised as an indian. A truce has been made between the Indians and Colonists to return all the kidnapped whites to their residence of origin. True Son tries very hard to non re-adjust to society because he’s rather used to being an Indian.
As events unfold he gets into a fight with Indian hating, beer loving Uncle Wilse (Wendell Coreyand) and falls in love with his Indian fearing indentured servant Shenandoe (Beautiful Carol Lynley).  The value of Freedom, the joy of dancing, and the ugliness of revenge weave their way into this hard to find Disney live action from the 50’s.
If you can find a VHS copy at your local library or on e-bay it’s worth watching if you like the great Disney 50 adventure outdoors. Or you can always read the book its based upon, which might be easier to find.
